10 Movies To Look Forward To In 2020….

No doubt, 2019 was the year of good movies and with these block busters now behind us; it’s time to look ahead to 2020. Here’s Ibiene’s prediction of what films will be rocking your world over the next 12 months. From satire to the return of some of the biggest names in cinema, there is so much to anticipate.

Here are titles that could put on your New Year check list;

1917 (January 10):

Based on a story Mende’s grandfather shared, 1917, it tells of two young British soldiers on a race against time to avert a devastating assault on their comrades in arms. A very different depiction of war is expressed in this World War One epic from Sam Mendes, the Oscar-winning director of American Beauty. George MacKay and Dean-Charles Chapman play the leads in a film alongside Benedict Cumberbatch, Colin Firth and Andrew Scott.

Bombshell (January 17):

The sexual harassment scandal that led to the departure of Fox News’ Roger Ailes from the network he founded gets a recreation in Jay Roach’s latest. Nicole Kidman, Charlize Theron and Margot Robbie co-star as three of Ailes’ accusers, while John Lithgow plays Ailes.

Mulan (March 27):

Mulan, directed by Niki Caro of Whale Rider features Chinese star Liu Yifei as the titular character and a host of other Chinese legends like Donnie Yen, Gong Li, and Jet Li, this one is poised to conquer the global box office.

Black Widow (May 1):

After playing a mind blowing character as Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame, Scarlett Johansson is returning next year as a Black Widow character. Set before the events of the recent Avengers films, the stand-alone adventure will take a deep look into Natasha’s mysterious past.

Fast & Furious 9 (May 22):

This is a return for cast regulars like Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Tyrese Gibson, not to mention Charlize Theron who is reprising her villainous role from Fast & Furious 8. Described as “by far the most ambitious of the series”, the film was directed by Justin Lin and was shot in the UK, the US, Georgia and Thailand.

Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5):

Remember how wonder woman got all women feeling powerful in 2017? Wonder Woman 1984, the sequel to Wonder Woman will see her as the Amazonian warrior come up against Cheetah, a feline villain played by Kristen Wiig.

Soul (June 19):

Pete Docter, the man who gave emotions personalities in Inside Out, is bringing another metaphysical animation this year in the form of the Pixar release Soul. It tells of Joe, a wannabe musician – voiced by Jamie Foxx – who becomes separated from his soul after suffering an unfortunate accident.

Bill and Ted Face the Music (August 21):

It’s been 29 years since Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves last appeared as Bill S. Preston Esquire and Ted “Theodore” Logan. Will they still be perfect with each other? Only those who remember Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991) will, we certainly hope so.
The King’s Man (September 18):

Directed by Matthew Vaughn and set in the early 1900s, Ralph Fiennes leads an all-star cast in an origin story that will show how a group of ex-soldiers formed the spy agency. This sequel starrs Harris Dickinson, Ralph Fiennes, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and other special actors.

Godzilla vs. Kong (November 20):

For those who have been following the battle between these two creatures, you will agree that it’s the showdown we’ve been waiting for. 2014’s Godzilla Director Adam, gets viewers wondering who will win when the giant ape takes on the king?
