Did you just shudder in disbelief?

To many, this may sound very funny, scary, disgusting and fairytale-like. Is it understandable for people to categorize the meat of a dangerous animal as the best meat or even one of the best meats?

Python to some people may be classified as a snake and very dangerous for that matter but some people who enjoy it on a plate want everyone to taste the python.

 How to prepare the python meat:

The ingredients include;

  1. Onions
  2. Scent leave
  3. Nutmeg (Ehu seed or ariwo)
  4. Pepper
  5. Seasoning cubes
  6. Salt
  7. Water

Modern method of preparation:

Fry 10 pieces of Nutmeg, break and remove the seeds. Crush the seeds of the nutmeg together with the pepper. Slice Onion and scent leave (efirin, nchianwu).

Put the python meat (which you can purchase directly from hunters or dedicated sellers of the python meat) in a bowl and pour hot water into the bowl containing the meat and cover the bowl for 5 to 10 minutes. This is to make it very easy to peel off the outer skin. After 5 to 10 minutes, remove the meat, cut open from end to end, remove the intestines and dispose them, then cut to your desired size.

Cooking:

Heat up a pot, pour the cut meat into the pot, add three (3) spoons full of the crushed nutmeg and pepper, seasoning cube (two cubes), salt (two tablespoons) and steam for about 30 minutes on high heat.

Then add water to the level of the meat in the pot and cook for additional 10 minutes. Pour in your scent leaf, onion and cook for another 10 minutes.
