Madagascar is home to an incredible array of flora and fauna. Almost 90 per cent of the island’s plants and animals are found nowhere else in the world. The baobab tree, the national tree of Madagascar, is a symbol of the island’s unique biodiversity.


Madagascar runs a semi-presidential system of government. The country’s economy is heavily reliant on agricultural industries. Forestry and fishing, coffee, vanilla, and sugarcane are its major exports.
